First Easter

Today was Braylen's first Easter. At first I thought I wasn't going to dress him up because he's only 7 weeks old, but then I saw the outfits and had to get one. Then my luck kicked in. I thought he would fit into the 3-6 month outfit with the way he's been growing, being 12.5lbs already. But of course it was too big even though it shrunk in the wash. Grandma came to the rescue though and bought him his new Easter outfit. And of course mommy went to Kohl's (her favorite place to shop) and got herself a new Easter dress too.

Poor Guy

So yesterday I had Braylen's one month check up. I brought up that his breathing concerns me because he breathes really funny. Then they found his dimple on his ear and didn't like the look of that. And then on top of that they couldn't find his pulse on his leg by his pelvis. Poor guy right? So they sent us to get him chest X-rays and a cardiac echo and blood work. Then he's been referred to an ENT for the ear because they say he has a cyst in it.

So this morning I had to take him for his blood work and the cardiac echo. His appointment for the echo was at 9 o'clock but of course with my luck the lady that the echo's doesn't come in until 12. Then the lab couldn't do the blood work and sent me to the hospital he was born at EMH. So we went to EMH and sat there for like an hour and finally got called. After that my heart broke because he cried the whole time. First they couldn't find his veins. Then when they found one it wasn't that strong so they were nervous. When they started taking the blood they had one lady holding his arm still, one lady taking the blood and ME holding him down. I wanted to start crying because he was hurting and being restrained and I had to help. Poor little guy he cried until I got him to sleep. So this morning was pointless on top of my baby boy being hurt.

Say Cheese!

So last night I went to a support group at the hospital. I go to it every week and I get to weigh Braylen. Last night he was 11lbs 6oz. He was 8lbs 7oz when we left the hospital so that's an ounce away from 3lbs gained in 5 weeks. What can I say the boy loves his food just like any other man. And just like any other man he's happy after he eats, that when he smiles the most. I got excited the other night because I just love his smile its so big and I had been trying for weeks to capture his smile on camera and finally I got it. Usually he sees the camera and stops smiling and wont smile again until it is turned off. How he knows it's turned off is a mystery to me.

A New Adventure!

Towards the end of my pregnancy my sister kept telling me I should start a blog. I didn't really see why I would blog when my son wouldn't be doing anything right away. He is going to be a month old tomorrow and is starting to do little things. He smiles a lot, he holds up his head on his own(but he's still a little wobbly) and he kicks and pushes his legs against things. He loves his thumb but right now he gets too frustrated not being able to find it and cries but when he does find it he is in heaven. I just look at him and think man hes going too grow fast.

When he was first born he was 8lbs 12 oz 21 inches long. Whats fun is he was only an ounce bigger then me. Every week I go to this support group at the hospital he was born at and I get to weigh him. As of last Wednesday he was 10lbs 5oz. He loves his food.

Yesterday he was blessed at church by my dad. Sister Stay made his gown for me because I wanted it perfect and no one does a better job then Sister Stay. I wanted to look nice for church that day but everything I have is old. So I went the night before and bought a dress, shoes and nylons. I prayed that morning that everything would go smoothly but of course it didn't. I went to put on my nylons and they were the wrong color. Then I went to put on my shoes and realized they were two right feet. So I had to run on the way to church, even though your not supposed to, to Kmart and get the right color nylons and a pair of shoes. After that everything went great. My son was blessed and Given the Name Braylen Andrew Levenhagen. I even got it on tape.

I know this is a long blog but I had to get you up to date. I hope you enjoy (Nicole i hope you noticed i spelled it right) reading about my motherhood experience and I'll keep you posted for now on.
